| Join the Desktop Linux revolution! |
(Updated Jan. 8, 2002)
Welcome to DesktopLinux.com!
We created DesktopLinux.com to provide a community resource and rallying point for the growing migration of millions of computer users from Windows to Linux as a desktop operating system. Whether you are simply curious and want try Linux just to know what it is about, or want to run Linux on one or all of your PCs, or really want to break free of the Microsoft monopoly, this site is meant to provide the news, background, guidance, and information you will need to ease the task of getting Linux running on your system.
This is no small task, however, and we are therefore asking members of the Desktop Linux community at all levels -- whether deeply experienced, newly transitioned, or total newcomer -- to join the revolution by participating in supporting this website and its growing community.
How can you help? Here are some possibilities . . . - Post questions -- ask your questions about Desktop Linux in our discussion forums -- we will NOT talk down to newcomers ("newbies") to our revolution.
- Answer questions -- visit our discussion forums periodically and see what questions you can answer.
- Help gather news, articles, resource listings -- use our online submission forms to enter useful information directly into our database. They are located here:
- Help build the Desktop Linux Directory -- we've launched a project to build the web's most extensive directory of Desktop Linux resources. Use the quick and convenient submission tool to add your favorite resources to the database.
- Tell your story -- share your opinions about the Desktop Linux market and its challenges in a "guest editorial", or tell us the story of your migration (success, failures, challenges,...) from Windows (or some other OS) to Linux.
