| HP to certify, integrate and support Open Source Software solutions |
Jun. 02, 2004
HP has extended its Linux and open source initiative with agreements to work with MySQL AB and JBoss to "certify, support, and jointly sell" open source software solutions" on HP's servers.
Building on their support for open source software, the Palo Alto-based computer maker has identified a series of blueprints for customers who are looking to use Linux open source technology to reduce IT cost and complexity. HP has identified this program as their "Linux Reference Architectures."
Offering two types of Linux Reference Architectures, one targeting open source components and one for commercialized offerings. HP is promoting integrated open source-based solutions with software from MySQL, JBoss, Apache, and OpenLDAP. The company also serves high-end enterprise customers with commercial solutions based on software from BEA and Oracle. HP has certified Linux Reference Architectures on HP ProLiant servers, and HP Integrity servers will be available in the third quarter of this year.
