| Lenny lights up old laptop |
Feb. 23, 2009
DeviceGuru has posted notes from installing Debian's Lenny distribution on an older ThinkPad notebook with a 600MHz Pentium III processor. The story includes suggestions about tuning Lenny's default GNOME UI with a custom launcher dock, and "real" versions of Firefox and Thunderbird.
The new DeviceGuru article was written by Rick Lehrbaum. Lehrbaum earlier wrote a similar article about installing and configuring Debian Etch on the same system.
The new article includes lots of screenshots and tips, and lots of praise for Lenny's alacrity on the old hardware. Power management, WiFi, and other potential problem areas present no apparent difficulties. The write-up can be found here.
