Sun offers lifeline to OS/2 customers with Mad Hatter
Aug. 22, 2003

When Sun releases their custom Linux -- dubbed Project Mad Hatter -- this September they will not only look to convert users from Microsoft Windows to their low cost desktop but will be offering a lifeline to millions of "stranded" OS/2 customers, according to a report at CBR.

Estimates Curtis Sasaki, Sun vice president of engineering for desktop solutions, "there are 20 million customers stranded on IBM Corp's legacy operating system. Many are also using dated desktop productivity packages such as Lotus' SmartSuite."

Screenshots of the new suite are available here.

To pre-register for Project Mad Hatter send an e-mail to madhatter@sun.com.
