Jun. 01, 2006
Mozilla released an additional "security and stability" update to its Thunderbird email client, v1.5.0.4, on June 1. Thunderbird 1.0.8 is still serving as the final stable release in the Thunderbird 1.0.x product line, with the upgraded version 1.5.0 released in conjunction with Firefox 1.5 last November.
According to the project team, Thunderbird 1.5.0.4 implements improvements to product stability as well as several unspecified security fixes.
Additionally, for Mac users, the update adds Universal Binary Support for Mac OS X, which provides native support for Macintosh with Intel Core processors, and supports the enhancements to performance introduced by the new MacIntel chipsets.
The recently released Mozilla Application Suite 1.7.13 is the last official release of the Mozilla Application Suite, the company said. Mozilla has recommended that all users of these products upgrade to the Thunderbird 1.5.0.x product line.
Mozilla's Calendar team on March 21 released Lightning 0.1, a new calendar extension for Thunderbird 1.5 users who run Linux, Mac OS X, or Windows.
You can download your own free copy of Thunderbird 1.5.0.4 for Linux here and for Windows here. You also can download a compressed disk image for Mac OX here.
