| Simple Linux Backup rolls out new rev |
Jun. 27, 2007
The Simple Linux Backup project announced the release of version 0.3.2 today. Simple Linux Backup is an easy-to-use program for backing up a desktop Linux system, with a friendly user interface, originator Steven J. Rosen said. It has been featured here on DesktopLinux.com.
"This is a development release; it is still undergoing testing and may not be completely stable. It contains several bug fixes and minor enhancements," Rosen said in his announcement of the v0.3.2 release. Major enhancements in the 0.3.2 release include: - Running Simple Backup Configuration Program now tests for the correct version of Java. If the reported Java version is less than 1.5, the user sees an error message and SBCP doesn't run.
- The latest versions of Eclipse SWT are now included.
- Minor changes were made to clarify certain text in a few dialog boxes.
Simple Linux Backup includes two applications:- The Simple Backup Configuration Program (SBCP) -- This wizard asks you a few simple questions about what to back up, where to back it up, etc. It records these answers in some configuration files and sets up automatic backups for you.
- The backup script, bkup -- This shell script actually performs the backups based on the options you set in SBCP. It has no user interface –- it is meant to be run automatically by the Linux scheduler, cron, or manually from a command line.
