| IBM updates progress of company-wide Linux rollout |

IBM execs updated the progress of the company's organizational rollout of Linux on desktops and in "places where it provides genuine business benefits" at a London Linux show this week reports Silicon.com.
Adam Jollans, Linux software marketing strategy manager for IBM, said "that Linux is ready for many, but not all, client segments."
At a November conference, IBM exec Sam Docknevich revealed that IBM would deploy 50,000 desktops in a year's time, up from 14,000 technical users.
An IBM fabrication plant in New York runs "completely" on Linux. The article notes that the new facility lent itself to open source because the group did not have to migrate from legacy systems.
