For those curious to see what exactly "a more pleasant and functional desktop" and "standardized icons and themes" look like, OSDir.com has published a screenshot tour of GoblinX 1.1.

First released late in November 2004, GoblinX is a bootable LiveCD distribution based on Slackware Linux. Version 1.1 includes five window managers: KDE, Xfce, Fluxbox, WindowMaker, and Enlightenment -- all of which are featured in the tour.
