| Open Source-based security product gains network intrusion protection |

Astaro's open source-based security product is getting an upgrade at the end of the month. The company announced new Astaro Security Linux version 5 adds network intrusion protection to protect networks against complex attacks and adds integrated virus protection for HTTP and FTP. The new version has full anti-virus coverage for Email (POP3 and SMTP) and Web (HTTP and FTP) traffic and will stop viruses in password-protected zip attachments.
Astaro Security Linux is comprehensive network security product for mid- to large- businesses. The product combines firewall, VPN gateway, intrusion protection, virus protection, spam protection and surf protection (URL filtering) in a single solution for x86-based PCs. The company offers a preconfigured security appliance as well.
Another key feature of Astaro's sofware is the reporting capabilities. Data can be collected and easily delivered in HTML format. A full list of product features and a free download is available.
Astaro Security Linux V5 will be available on March 31st from Astaro solution partners or by calling (781) 272-8787. Pricing begins at US $390 for 10-user licenses. Spam Protection is provided via a free subscription service. Subscriptions are available for features including intrusion and virus protection.
