| KDE publishes application directory |
Nov. 29, 2005
The K Desktop Environment (KDE) project has published a valuable list of available native KDE (and Qt, if no KDE counterpart is there) applications, sorted by task areas. The idea is to create a more informative and complete KDE-specific table of application information, the project said.
The resulting list can be used by people looking for specific software, as well as by developers seeking to identify software that is not yet available, or locate existing efforts where they are able to contribute, according to the project.
All applications mentioned in the listing make use of KDE/Qt 3.x. Applications that use older KDE/Qt versions are being considered abandoned and are therefore not listed.
Users are encouraged to set up websites for programs that don't have their own websites, the project said. Users are also encouraged to add missing applications and categories to the published list, which is hosted on the project's wiki.
Examples of some of the applications listed are: KMail (email), KChat (chat), Konqueror (Web browser, desktop console and file management), Guarddog (security), KMyMoney (personal finance), KPrenter (presentation), and many more.
