Linux certifications are becoming more widely available -- and sought after. Exploring the community-like Linux Professional Institute (LPI) exams and Red Hat certification programs, Joe "Zonker" Brockmeier takes a look at the increase in demand -- and their value -- for NewsFactor.
Said Evan Leibovitch, president of Linux Professional Institute, "It's growing quite rapidly. We gave our first exam in 2000; we gave our 20,000th exam in December of 2002." Even in this lousy economy, he noted, people are still clamoring for LPI certification. "Demand, if anything, is on the rise."
