Jun. 21, 2002
ShaoLin Microsystems announced the release of Aptus 2.0 beta, a fit client network architecture based Linux workstation deployment and management solution with both the centralized management and reliability of thin clients, plus the performance and flexibility of PC's. Aptus 2.0 beta is now available for download here.
In response to customer feedback, Aptus 2.0 delivers an improved management interface and greater flexibility - Aptus 2.0 is fully compatible with both the newly released Redhat 7.3 and Chinese 2000 1.0; all 10/100 network adapters with Linux drivers are supported; auto update of Aptus is available through Aptus Configurator; and swap can now be configured to be on a local hard drive, even if it is loaded with Windows. Aptus 2.0 shortens deployment time over previous versions with auto-detection of new Aptus clients; the Aptus web-based configurator eliminates manual input of client MAC addresses.
Aptus eliminates installing Linux on individual desktops; Install Aptus on a Linux server and deploy Linux on existing desktops in minutes without using the local hard drive to run Linux. Aptus dramatically lowers the desktop computer administration and maintenance costs, leverages existing computer infrastructure, extends hardware life and increases return on investment.
