Jun. 13, 2003

Lindows' Michael Robertson has unveiled new pricing and purchasing options for his company's software. With the release of LindowsOS 4.0, the company will cut their pricing in half by offering their Click and Run Warehouse membership and stand-alone LindowsOS at $50 a year each.

This new program won't get include the latest commerical Linux offerings available from Lindows, though. To gain access to StarOffice, Bitstream Fonts, and Tux Deluxe, you'll have to use the company's Click-N-Buy service to buy each program separately or as part of a "bundled" package add-on, according to the announcement.

Robertson introduced five online and retail boxed sets. They include a stand-alone version of Lindows OS 4.0 for $50 and bundled software packages for the office, to combat viruses, and to protect your family from pornography, priced from $40 to $50 each.

Also on tap with the next release? Customers can try LindowsOS with a fifteen day free trial membership and pay on a monthly basis.
