| Ubuntu Christian Edition demystified |
Dec. 27, 2006
If you're among those wondering what actually constitutes a "Christian" version of an operating system, then you might want to read a new online article explaining what Ubuntu Christian Edition is all about.
"The first question that popped into my head was: 'How did they make a Linux distribution Christian?'," writes ExtremeTech.com reviewer Jim Lynch. "I was wondering if the wallpaper had pictures of Jesus or some other kind of Christian art or labeling. After using it for a while, I realized that the Christian theme in this version of Ubuntu had less to do with appearances and more to do with providing a more wholesome environment with some controls on content to keep out some of the adult material available on the Internet.
"The two big differences are the inclusion of GnomeSword and DansGuardian. GnomeSword is a Bible study program and DansGuardian is a content filter," Lynch continues.
