| KOffice 1.6.1 adds features, fixes bugs |
Nov. 29, 2006
Only 44 days after the release of KOffice 1.6.0, the KOffice team today introduced v1.6.1, the first bugfix version of the latest release. The edition also includes new features in its Kexi database application and Krita image editing function, the team said in the release announcement.
Kexi now has better-displaying tooltips for columns with lookup data and now displays the proper record when a new row is saved and moved by the user to a previous record, the team said.
In addition, Kexi now features:- support for declaring parameter queries in Design and SQL view; user is asked for entering value of a parameter in a dialog window before the query is executed;
- support for data-aware combo boxes in the Data Table View and Form View, i.e. lookup columns. Table Designer provides a tool for defining the lookup columns, i.e. data source for combo boxes.
The Krita image editor now has a new Color Level filter. One of the key bugs fixed was a bogus warning telling users that the unsharp mask filter in Krita didn't work -- even though it did.
Standard features and components of the KOffice 1.6.1 are:- a frame-based, full-featured word processor (KWord)
- a spreadsheet application (KSpread)
- a presentation application (KPresenter)
- a flowchart application (Kivio)
- an integrated database application (Kexi)
- a new project management application (KPlato)
- a pixel-based image editing and paint application (Krita)
- a vector-drawing application (Karbon14)
Additionally, KOffice includes the following "robust embeddable objects," according to the team:- business quality reporting software (Kugar)
- full-featured charting engine (KChart)
- mathematical formula handling (KFormula)
KOffice also includes a built-in thesaurus (KThesaurus) and support for many different file formats, the team added.
