| Siemens predicts 20% market share for Linux desktops in 5 years |

NewsForge is reporting that Siemens' is boldly predicting that the Linux desktop will be the "#2 most-installed OS in the world" and will achieve 20% desktop market share by 2008. The estimates are bourne out of a study conducted by Siemens with "secretaries and managers" in an effort to better assess ease-of-use issues and gain a real world perspective on the ability of the general workforce to embrace Desktop Linux software. Senior program manager Duncan McNutt has led the study at Siemens and is interviewed extensively about training times, cost savings, and desktops that were evaluated.
