Linux seen grabbing 10% of India's desktops

Linux is projected to gain significant market share this year in India -- up to 10% of desktops -- according to this report from Sanjay K Pillai at the Business Standard in India.

The move is due in large part to the government's embrace of the OS. Though the enterprise is making moves toward Linux as well.

Amit Bhoraskar, Red Hat manager of channels in India stated, “By December 2003 we expect the Linux operating system to be installed in two lakh desktop personal computers in India”.
