Oct. 25, 2004
Linux messaging software vendor Scalix is shipping a new version of its enterprise email and calendaring platform. Scalix 9.1 adds support for the Mozilla 1.7 browser, Firefox Preview Release and the Thunderbird email application.
Scalix offers a standards-based email and calendaring platform for Linux. The software is based on HP's OpenMail technology, which Scalix has licensed and ported to Linux.
Scalix says its messaging system is fully compatible with Microsoft Outlook and other desktop email clients, and that it is supported on all popular desktop platforms, including Linux, Windows, and Mac OS.
With several high profile deployments in the US under its belt, Scalix claims that its software can be introduced into existing infrastructures without end user disruption, and that the platform scales across organizations of all sizes without costly licensing and vendor lock-in found in proprietary solutions.
Scalix will showcase a German language version of the new release, Scalix 9.1, at LinuxWorld Germany this week. An evaluation copy of Scalix's email and calendaring solution is available on the company's website.
