| Web-based office suite touts cross-platform interoperability |
Jul. 01, 2005
A beta version of ThinkFree Corp.'s web-based cross-platform office productivity suite is now available. The Java-based suite allows users to create and access Microsoft Office-compatible documents from almost any computer with Internet access.
ThinkFree Office Online lets users create text documents, spreadsheets, and slideshow presentations using one of several supported browsers (FireFox 1.0.1 and up, Internet Explorer 6.0 and up, and Safari 1.3), and store them on ThinkFree's servers for later access from almost any Internet-enabled computer -- even those without any office productivity software installed -- according to the company. Additionally, ThinkFree Office Online can convert Microsoft Word, Excel, or Powerpoint documents to PDF files.
The ThinkFree Office Online suite is available for Linux, as well as Mac OS X and Microsoft Windows. Each account includes 30MB of storage space for free, with the option to purchase additional space and/or services.
Further details are available on the company's website.
