| Is OpenOffice really ten years behind MS Office? |
Mar. 06, 2006
Microsoft executive Alan Yates has reportedly suggested that OpenOffice.org is about where MS-Office was 10 years ago. DesktopLinux.com columnist Steven J. Vaughan-Nichols responds to Yates's comment, noting that OO.o has all the features he needs and is fast, reliable, and "secure, unlike Office."
"Oh, and did I mention that OO.o doesn't cost a penny, while Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003 lists for $499? OK, I give up, what's the problem with OO.o again?," Vaughan-Nichols adds.
He does, however, admit that Yates makes one correct point.
