| VA Linux releases new LDAP-based directory services |
Nov. 23, 2004
Tokyo's VA Linux Systems has announced plans to release new software that will help improve efficiency for network service providers and enterprises who offer Web and messaging to their clients across remote locations. VA Directory, a server product that implements the Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP), centralizes data management and provides the foundation for network services such as user authentication, the company says.
VA Directory is based on UltraPossum, an open source directory developed by the OpenLDAP Project and VA Linux. Earlier this week the company released VA Core, a Debian-based framework for IP filtering, SNMP server monitoring, and limiting the number of simultaneous sessions on a host.
VA Linux specializes in developing technologies to increase Linux reliability. Last month, the company announced the release of a fault analysis tool co-developed with NTT Data Corporation. The software collects and analyzes failure data of Linux systems.
VA Directory is expected to ship early next year.
