| Linspire goes game-happy up with TransGaming's Cedega |
Jun. 24, 2005
Linspire-oriented gamers will be pleased to learn that Linspire's CNR ("click and run") warehouse now stocks TransGaming's Cedega, which will make "hundreds of Triple-A rated Windows games" available for Linspire users, "with minimal installation," according to Linspire.
"Gamers don't have to choose between Linux and Windows anymore," says Linspire Inc. CEO Kevin Carmony. "The release of Cedega technology for Linspire fills one of the most serious application gaps that exist for widespread adoption of desktop Linux," he adds.
Once known as WineX, but since re-named for a grape used in making Port wine, Cedega features a configuration wizard, "easy updating," an "enhanced look and feel," backwards compatibility with games and older versions of Cedega, plus a one year subscription to Trans-gaming, which includes tech support, automatic software updates, and the opportunity to vote on future game titles.
Cedega is available to Linspire CNR Warehouse members for about $45, and to non-members for $60. Check out Cedega's product page at Linspire's CNR warehouse for more details.
