Jerry Peek, coauthor of Learning the Unix Operating System explains why a little command line programming can go a long way, in this article published by the O'Reilly Network. Peek writes . . .

One characteristic of a user-friendly system, he told us, is that it does what the user wants. In other words, the most user-friendly system isn't necessarily the simplest one . . ."
