Jan. 23, 2003
Open Navigator today announced that customers are snapping up copies of OpenOffice.org on CD-ROM from its online store at Amazon.com.
According to Open Navigator's founder Anthony Long, sales have increased dramatically in the last week, when a link to its Amazon.com zShops storefront went live on the OpenOffice.org main website.
“Our recent sales surge indicates that consumers are willing to pay for low-cost office productivity that is conveniently packaged and available through a trusted vendor,” stated Anthony Long, Open Navigator's founder. “Open Navigator seeks to link end-users to the open source community and the open source community to end-users in the best way possible. Our sales at Amazon.com confirm our feelings that consumers will pay for open source software that is affordable, conveniently packaged, and available through a familiar source.”
This success has led Open Navigator to expand its product offering and investigate other sales channels.
