The future of Linux is garnering support from an unexpected source: the end-user, according to Jack Kapica for Canda's Globe and Mail.
A study released this week affirms open source advocates' claims that TCO for Linux-based operations drop significantly as major applications for the enterprise are becoming more available.
While Linux is increasingly gaining both momentum and serious consideration in many corporations, convincing IT management that Linux is ready and will scale to meet future demands remains the short term challenge. Kapica suggests that a little patience for the market to take notice and current economic conditions will likely help Linux reach the enterprise "soon."
