| Linux enthusiasts launch community website |

The Linux community has created a new, interactive website to promote increased awareness of the venerable open source operating system and corresponding applications. GetGNULinux.org made its debut Aug. 29, a few days after its relative, SpreadGNOME.org opened for business.
"We are not in any way affiliated with any company, nor distributors of Linux, or software developers," the group says on its website. "Not even the Free Software Foundation (though we share many views) or any code-writing project. We are just normal Linux users -- enthusiastic and with a concern for freedom in computing."
The site is not intended to help solve Linux user problems.
"We're really sorry, but we can't," the team said." Firstly, this is completely out of the scope of this website; but most of all, we probably just wouldn't be able to: We're no good at Linux technical stuff. Whichever distribution you use, you can also check out the Nuxified.org forums where many friendly techies will help you out."
The site contains a comprehensive FAQ and basic information for newbies (such as a definition of Linux and a piece on ""Why Not Windows?"). There's also a section on "Making the Switch" from Windows to Linux.
Sections to be added include Applications, Accessories, Games, Graphics, and others, the team said.
