| New Mandrakeonline keeps users up to date |
Jul. 19, 2004
Mandrake has launched a new update service for users. Mandrakeonline offers services to cost effectively keep software updated on systems running Mandrakelinux. Mandrakeonline combines Mandrakelinux updating capabilities with an online service. The website offers security patches, bug fixes and errata notices for specific hardware configurations and various software environments.
Mandrakeonline certifies software updates and notifies users when they become available. Automatic updates are available for users who want the latest version of software as it becomes available.
Using the service, all networked Mandrakelinux systems can be managed from a central console using a single mouse click. Using "Mandrakeprofile," administrators can track the status of all machines on a network and maintain a history of system-wide updates. Backups and updates are scheduled for a convenient time, such as at night when the computer has sufficient available resources.
Mandrakeonline is now available to all Mandrakelinux 10.0 users. A subscription fee starts at US $21.95 USD / 19.90 EUR per year. Mandrakelinux Club Silver Members and above get free and unlimited access to the resource.
