| Xandros offers certification program, custom software for OEMs |
Jun. 23, 2004
Xandros has released specialized software for Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) that allows OEMs to customize desktop wallpaper and icons, browser home page and bookmarks, and other features of its desktop Linux operating system.
The former Corel Linux team has also launched a program to offer OEMs customized hardware and software that are fully tested for its products. Xandros certifies both hardware and software through the newly created Designed for Xandros! program.
New York-based Element Computer substitutes the Firefox browser and adds a custom Parchment icon theme for its ION laptops. Says Element's President Mike Hjorleiffsson, "After testing, trying, and working with top Linux products, it became clear that only Xandros could provide the basis for the customer experience we were after."
Xandros says that the OEM editions of its Xandros Desktop OS provide the same benefits as its standard commercial releases.
