Lindows releases new software to manage photos and music
Apr. 26, 2004

Lindows Inc. has announced that it will release two new desktop applications for its Linspire Linux desktop operating system.

The first, called Lsongs plays and manages digital audio, imports audio tracks, organizes and searches audio files, plays MP3s, CDs or streaming audio, and burns CDs says the company.

Lsongs, an open source product, can be downloaded and installed with a single click via Lindows software warehouse. Lsongs is available at no cost to those purchasing the Warehouse service or for US $20..

Lphoto is also expected to be released in a future version of Linspire said company officials. This application imports and organizes ephotos, resizes and retouches images, and easily send inages via email or through an HTML-based photo album, according to Lindows.

The San Diego-based company changed the name of its operating system to Linspire earlier this month in response to legal challenges by Microsoft. Last week they filed with the SEC for an IPO. No date has been set.
