| ELX Linux desktop sales to double this year, says exec |

CXOToday.com reports that India's ELX Linux expects to double its sales of Linux desktops in India this year to 100,000 units, according to Manojit Majumdar who heads up sales efforts for the Hyderabad-based Linux company BizDesk 4.0.
ELX Founder and Chief Software Architect, Abhi Datt offered DesktopLinux.com exclusive insight into market conditions in India last year, discussing programs that are allowing ELX to convert 200-300 corporate/institutional desktops a month to Linux.
Sun Microsystems landed a significant deal in March with the government of Haryana, an Indian state with about 31,000 desktops.
Oracle announced that seven new customers in India have adopted Linux as their choice of platform for corporate business earlier this year, citing the open source OS as now the second most popular operating system among the Oracle developers.
