May 18, 2004
A new version of Lime Wire P2P file sharing software is available today that results in faster and more successful downloads and improved searches for rare content with a sleeker interface, according to the company.
Lime Wire 4.0 also promises that so-called "spyware" has been eliminated from the product, ensuring customers a guarantee that their personal information is not collected for market research purposes.
Enhanced features announced for Lime Wire include improved search results with an average of five times as many files returned on searches, a "What's New?" feature lets users browse the network for the most recently uploaded files and users can now route their downloads via web proxies to protect their identity. A full list of capabilities is here.
The new version of LimeWire 4.0 runs Linux and other popular operating systems including Windows and Mac. LimeWire 4.0 is available to Pro customers and available for free download.
