Sep. 29, 2005
The OpenSUSE team has announced through its mail list that SUSE Linux 10.1 Alpha1, codename "Auckland," is ready for download and testing by those wanting to live on the bleeding edge of Linux.
"Alpha1 will be followed by Alpha2 in four weeks," team member Andreas Jaeger wrote. "Alpha1 is not supported, and we advise to not use it on production systems. It has only gone through minimal testing on our side."
Jaeger listed significant changes in 10.1 Alpha1 since 10.0 as the following:- An update to KDE 3.5 Beta1
- An update to openldap 2.3.7
- An update to the Linux 2.6.13.2 kernel
- YaST does not install the bootloader in the MBR
- We use ifplugd by default for network interfaces
- A number of package updates and package fixes to reduce compile warnings (especially about missing declarations and aliasing).
A list of known issues and more details about the release can be obtained here.
