| Lindows goes 'Italiano' |
Apr. 21, 2004
Lindows has announced that an Italian version of their operating system will be available this summer. The company says Questar will carry 'LinspireItaliano' at 250 locations throughout Italy and online.
Linspire, formerly known as LindowsOS, is the new name for the Lindows operating system following a ruling in a Dutch court ordering a name change in Europe.
Microsoft has levied a spate of lawsuits against the San Diego-based company globally. The two companies are in US court over the name Lindows. The Redmond software maker filed suit in December 2001, alleging that the Lindows name infringes on its trademarked operating system, Windows and causes confusion in the market.
Despite legal issues, Lindows maintains they will continue using Lindows in the US as its corporate name and on its software, "in certain situations."
In October, Lindows announced the availability LindowsEspanol, a Spanish language version of LindowsOS. A Japanese version of the company's OS was announced last year.
