AlphaTrade.com has announced Linux support for their E-Gate browser-based, real-time stock quote service. The Canadian company's software provides multilingual, streaming, real-time North American financial market data over the Internet. AlphaTrade says that by extending their applications to the open source operating system, their products now work "anytime, anywhere" and are compatible with any operating system or browser.
Using E-Gate, subscribers get information on North American stocks, options, and indices including bid and ask prices, charts, and level I and II stock information. A free trial is available for download.
A company spokesman said AlphaTrade has been using Linux servers internally for four years after switching from Windows NT and Sun Solaris.
The latest version E-Gate has been optimized for use on Linux systems. E-Gate also supports Windows and Mac OS platforms.
