| UK Linux software pilot programs gain funding |

Pilots programs for open-source technology in the public sector have gained funding from the European Commission according to a report at Vnunet. Through the Consortium for Open Source in Public Administration (Cospa) project, the UK has begun using a Eur 2.6M grant to promote use of non-proprietary software throughout government agencies. The goal, says the report, is to show how open source can offer millions of pounds in cost savings.
