Vnunet discusses the Red Hat Linux desktop with the Raleigh-based company's CEO, Matthew Szulik. The interview focuses on Red Hat's market strategy which has largely centered on the back-end server and the company's move toward the client. He says that improved "application performance" was part of the reason for the push into the desktop Szulik discusses the industry, competition and how his company will be distributing their desktop client as a managed service.
The Red Hat Desktop was announced earlier this month as part of the company's strategy to target users in government,, academic, and enterprise IT organizations with Linux desktops.
