Mar. 14, 2006
Gnome Foundation director and longtime Linux desktop developer Jeff Waugh will be among the keynote speakers at the project's largest Latin American event, III Forum Gnome, will be held April 19-22, 2006, at Porto Alegre, Brazil.
The Forum, in its third year, will be presented as a community event of the 7h Forum Internacional Software Livre, the biggest open-source software event of Latin America.
Waugh, who will give a talk on "The Future of Gnome" at the conference (date and time are yet to be determined), works on Ubuntu business and community development for Canonical as his day job. By night, "he rides shotgun on the GNOME release juggernaut and plots the Open Source blogging explosion with Planet," his website says.
Nat Friedman of Novell will offer "Demos of the Latest Linux Desktop" at the conference (date and time also yet to be determined), and Gnome developer Johan Dahlin will speak on "Best Practices for Python GUI development" April 19 at 1:00 p.m.
