| OpenSUSE 10.1 RC3 delta iso released |
Apr. 28, 2006
On April 28, the OpenSUSE Linux project unveiled the third release candidate of OpenSUSE 10.1. The project has released four alpha and nine beta versions of the upcoming distro. The "final" release date for 10.1 has not been set, but is expected to be within several weeks, the project said.
The project is only releasing RC3 "delta" isos against RC2 and RC1, the team said. Users are advised to look at the Applying Delta ISOs section of the download instructions to learn how to use them, the team said. Delta isos allow you to download a small file instead of downloading the complete iso -- if you have the previous iso. To use this feature, you need the package deltarpm, which is installed by default.
Some of the key issues still to be fixed include:- Language-dependent packages for the default language are not installed
- YaST2 does not show the package description/summary for a lot of packages
- The source with updates is added twice
Novell released SUSE 10.0, the first Novell Linux distribution built under its OpenSUSE community model, last fall.
