| Southern California Linux Expo to be held on Nov 2, 2002 |
Sep. 16, 2002
The USCLUG, SCLUG, and UCLALUG are proud to present S.C.A.L.E. - the first annual Southern California Linux Expo. Scheduled for November 2nd, 2002 at the Davidson Conference Center on the University of Southern California campus, the Southern California Linux Expo will bring together Linux and Open Source Software companies, developers, and users.
The first large scale professional Linux expo in Los Angeles is being held by Linux users groups from the local area: the USCLUG, SCLUG, and UCLALUG. The three LUGs combine their efforts to expand on previous LUG Fests and bring forward an exposition to promote Linux and the Open Source Software community.
Speakers at the conference will include PHP's author Rasmus Lerdorf, and USC's J. P. Lewis, a key figure in the special effects industry. The list of all featured speakers is available here.
If you would like to participate by giving a presentation or workshop, or if you are working on a Linux or Open Source related project, details for the submission of papers and presentation plans are available from our website. The deadline for submissions is Monday, September 23, 2002.
Our goal is for attendees to gain new insight and excitement about our growing technological community. We will be charging for this event in order to cover the expenses of organizing it, not to make a profit. We intend to offer lower prices for students and Linux users groups.
