Are you using Linux and need some practical advice for configuration? Here is an intermediate-level book from Linda and Al McKinnon that can help get your questions answered. Emmett Dulaney reviews it for UnixReview . . .
" . . . The one thing that makes Customizing and Upgrading Linux stand out most is that it is an intermediate-level book. Among the Linux shelves, there is no shortage of beginner books, and there are a plethora of titles on high-end topics. The former all tend to act as if you've never heard of Linux or Unix before and need to be spoon-fed overview information lest anyone get left behind. The latter tend to focus on one particular service and dissect all that can be done with it (Apache, sendmail, etc.). Surely I'm not the only one to wonder if there shouldn't be an intermediate step in books between learning what the cat command is used for and tweaking sendmail . . . "
