| Fifth Southern California Linux Expo opens Friday |

SCALE 5X, the 2007 Southern California Linux Expo, opens its doors at the Westin Los Angeles Airport hotel Feb. 9 and will continue through Sunday, Feb. 11. The event will include about 50 seminars, 70-plus exhibitors, a high number of BoF meetings, and three days' worth of exhibits and demonstrations.
Organizers said the program is filled to capacity. Highlighted speakers will include Chris Dibona of Google, Don Marti of LinuxWorld, Ted Haeger of Novell, Jono Bacon of Canonical, and Vara Prasad of IBM.
Exhibitors include Dell, IBM, Verio, Red Hat, GroundWork Open Source, ReactOS, Haiku OS, and PostgreSQL. One lucky attendee will win a Dual Xeon 1U Rackmount Server from Silicon Mechanics, an event official said.
Two other conferences to be held on Friday, Feb. 9, are Women In Open Source the and Open Source Health Care Summit.
Attendees will be able to dispose of electronic equipment at the Expo at no charge. Further details on this service are available here.
The earlybird ticket price is $60 for full admission, with a $30 admission for students with valid ID.
