Israel: No new Microsoft Software, encourages open source

Information Week is reporting that Israel has "suspended purchases of Microsoft productivity software and is encouraging the development of an open-source alternative." This move is said to be a reaction to Microsoft's software upgrade policies and escalating costs. According to the report, Israel's Finance Ministry said the country would "use existing Microsoft Office products for the time being rather than upgrade to newer versions."
