Writing at Monolinux, Eric Krout introduces the 'Fluxbox' window manager, an alternative to KDE and GNOME . . .
" . . . Many folks decide that they don't want to deal with the bloat that KDE and GNOME introduce to one's machine. Still, others simply don't have the hardware to comfortably handle such eyecandy-intensive desktop environments; ergo , they couldn't use such environments without becoming incredibly frustrated with their sluggish performance on low-end hardware."
