Austin, TX -- (press release excerpt) -- NeTraverse announced the release of Win4Lin 4.0 Workstation Edition, the fourth generation of the Windows-on-Linux software. Win4Lin allows Linux workstation users to run Windows applications on Linux.
Win4Lin supports for the full install version of US English Windows Millennium Edition (ME), 95, and 98 and has been known to run Windows applications at close to native speeds.
Win4Lin 4.0 includes a number of enhancements, including:- Support for up to 128 MB of ram allocated to Windows applications
- Easier resizing of the Win4Lin window
- Asian Language support for Windows98SE Support (Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese versions of Windows 98SE)
- Wheel mouse support
- Reporting of the correct CPU rather then a virtual Cyrix 486 so that applications requiring a Pentium-class processor will operate
- More software supported including Microsoft Office XP, Macromedia Dreamweaver 4.0, and Adobe Photoshop 6.0
- Sound playback support
