| Update on ELX status from Abhi Datt, founder of Project ELX |
May 12, 2002
LinuxDevices.com contacted Abhi Datt, Chief Software Architect and founder of Project ELX, to find out the latest on the plans for a 1.0 ELX release in the near future. We received this reply . . . - ELX is all set to release the Power Desktop 1.0 somewhere around 25th of this month. Please check our brand new website for more details.
- ELX has formed a strategic partnership with Maxil Technologies, a Chicago based organization having offices in Kansas in the US and also in London, Franfort, and Malyasia. This will be a joint venture association taking care of our US operations.
- ELX is going to be the first 'licensed Linux' version, which will raise many eyebrows -- but it's the only way to ensure a corporate-ready Linux product. We don't want to raise alarm bells like Mandrake did recently. We are here to stay. Please read the ELX license agreement on our website. ELX will always be free for home users and educational institutions. It only requires licensing for business use.
- ELX will offer all its customers a 'support max' system -- a guaranteed response time, web-based technical support system.
- Be sure to read this comparison of ELX with Windows and other forms of Linux.
- ELX will introduce ELX Light Desktop and Terminal Server editions following the release of this one Power Desktop 1.0.
