| Opera's new baby turns two million in two weeks |
May 03, 2005
Opera Software has "proudly announced" that its new baby, Opera 8, has hit a major developmental milestone -- 2 million downloads -- within just two weeks of its release!
On its introduction last month, Opera Software touted the latest browser as a "substantial upgrade from previous versions," with improvements emphasizing speed, security, and ease-of-use. And, as previously reported, the new browser version also adds voice capabilities, but only for Windows users.
The two million figure includes versions for all platforms and languages, with 1.3 million English language and 400,000 German language downloads, according to the company.
With such interest in only the first two weeks, Opera Software CEO Jon Von Tetzchner anticipates Opera 8 will surpass the 60 million downloads of its older sibling, Opera 7.
