Mandriva LE 2005 now free through FTP
May 05, 2005

When Mandriva released its transitional Mandriva Limited Edition 2005 last month, only contributors and Mandriva Club Members could download it for free. Now, as previously promised, Mandriva's LE 2005 is available via a number of FTP servers for free download by the general public.

Mandriva LE 2005 -- a transitional release between Mandrake 10.1 and the upcoming Mandriva 2006 Official -- supports x86-64 and dual core technology, and aims to run on the cutting edge with speed and stability, according to Mandriva.

Mandriva offers LE 2005 to the public in myriad forms. The "Mandrivastore" online store sells a boxed 2 DVD set (one 32-bit x86 version and one 64-bit x86-64 version) and a downloadable version (10 percent discount), or a download + boxed set package (10 percent more than the boxed set alone).

Through the free FTP mirrors, Mandriva offers a stripped down version of the CD and DVD ISO images for i586 and PPC architectures, and the Xbox.

Information about Mandriva Limited Edition 2005 is available here. Details on where to download Mandriva LE 2005 via FTP mirrors are available here.
