| Myah OS goes gold with v2.3 SE |

Founder and chief maintainer Jeremiah Cheatham last week released v2.3 SE of the Slackware-based Myah OS. Myah OS v2.3 SE, optimized for multimedia and gaming, is composed of a Linux live and installation CD and utilizes the KDE 3.5.4 desktop environment and a 2.6.18 kernel.
"We have taken the [most] powerful Linux kernel and the rich, full-featured KDE desktop," Cheatham said in the release announcement. "We've added 3D video acceleration and multimedia support, so you can have a powerful, simple-to-use home operating system."
Some of the key changes since the early September release of version 2.2, according to the U.S.-based project team, include: - Firefox 2.0rc2, with support for Flash
- Java and embedded video (embedded video also available within Konqueror)
- settings for DVD playback have been optimized
- 3D drivers for ATI and NVIDIA optimized
- A fresh Ksplash theme has been created to integrate with the bootsplash theme
- KDE 3.5.4
- Boot process much faster and smoother
- CUPS printing running
Myah OS aims to be a full system right out of the box, and it can also easily be expanded using packages from Myah, Slackware, or other Slackware third-party sites, Cheatham said.
Standard applications include:- Mplayerplug-in(extension and plugin), Greasemonkey, and Pklaunch.
- Konqueror with kmplayer support
- Thunderbird 2.0a1 with Mostly Crystal theme.

- GIMP 2.2.13 graphics editor
- RealPlayer 10 Gold
- Xine 0.99.4 with codecs and DVD support.
- GMplayer with codecs and DVD support.
- Kmplayer with codecs and DVD support.
- Amarok 1.4.3
- AudaCity 1.3.0b
- Kino 0.9.0
- Bittorrent 4.4.0
More than 30 games also are bundled, including ArmagetronAD, Battalion 2004, Enemylines 3, and Tuxpuck
