Four-day course offers intensive Linux training
May 04, 2006

Learning Tree International has announced the addition of a new Linux course to its IT curriculum. Entitled "Linux: A Comprehensive Hands-On Introduction," the four-day course offers participants the opportunity to gain experience with Linux through intensive exercises under the guidance of an expert instructor.

Attendees will also receive training in how to:
  • Manage, control, and automate Linux and its associated open-source tools
  • Create, edit and search Linux files and directories
  • Limit access within the file system by controlling permissions and ownership
  • Combine GNU filter commands in pipelines to process and format text data
  • Exploit Bash shell features to enhance the command line interface
"Linux: A Comprehensive Hands-On Introduction," which is taught using Red Hat Linux, is valuable for those interested in acquiring a comprehensive foundation of knowledge about the Linux operating system and can be a first step toward becoming a Linux administrator, developer, security, or application support specialist, Learning Tree said.

"Linux: A Comprehensive Hands-On Introduction" augments existing hands-on courses in the Learning Tree UNIX/Linux curriculum, including Linux Administration and Support, UNIX and Linux Tools and Utilities, UNIX and Linux Security, KornShell Programming, Deploying Virtual Server and Workstation Technology and MySQL Development and Administration.

Learning Tree will begin presenting "Linux: A Comprehensive Hands-On Introduction" in North America in May 2006 and in its London Education Center in July 2006.

The initial course schedule includes:
  • Washington, DC (Rockville, MD) -- May 9-12, 2006
  • Chicago (Schaumburg) -- May 16-19, 2006
  • Ottawa, ON -- June 6-9, 2006
  • Washington, DC (Reston, VA) -- June 6-9, 2006
