Novell optimizes Ximian Desktop 2 for SuSE Linux

Novell today announced that Ximian Desktop 2, its enterprise Linux desktop product, now supports the latest editions of Linux client operating environment software from SuSE Linux -- the SuSE Linux Desktop and SuSE Linux 9.

The update includes the Ximian Edition of OpenOffice.org 1.1, GAIM instant messenger client, Ximian Evolution 1.4, updated Ximian Red Carpet 2.0 configuration management client software, and dozens of additional applications and utilities. Ximian Desktop 2 is a major upgrade to the Linux Desktop and is based on GNOME 2.2.

Novell Ximian Desktop 2 is available as a free download.

Ximian Desktop 2 Professional, with technical support, automated software updates, Java support, additional fonts, and plug-ins, is available for US $99 at Ximian's store.
